This week we are exploring the power of the Holy Spirit in faith, miracles and healing.  God has given us a magnificent gift through Holy Spirit, which as humans we rarely depend use in ministry.  I have personally witnessed healing in my own life and healing in the many lives in which I have been in ministry.

Healing is a very special gift of the Holy Spirit, through it we can regonize our faith and sometimes we may even witness a miracle.  The word for healing in Greek is "sozo" which means wholeness of body, mind and spirit.  Most often we are seeking physical healing and if this is not seen people think that healing has not occurred.  While in the act of praying for healing, we receive the healing that God intends for us, which may be spiritual, physical or emotional.  We receive total healing at the time of death, when we become whole as God brings us into his eternal kingdom - body, mind and spirit are all healed in this time.

"All healing is of God.  The Church’s healing ministry in no way detracts from the gifts God gives through medicine and psychotherapy.  It is no substitute for either medicine or the proper care of one’s health.  Rather, it adds to our total resources for wholeness.

Healing is not magic, but underlying it is the great mystery of God’s love.  Those who minister spiritual healing are channels of God’s love.  Although no on can predict what will happen in a given instance, many marvelous healings have taken place.

God does not promise that we shall be spared suffering but does promise to be with us in our suffering.  Trusting that promise, we are unable to recognize God’s sustaining presence in pain, sickness, injury, and estrangement.

Likewise, God does not promise that we will be cured of illnesses; and we all must face the inevitability of death.  A Service of Healing is not necessarily of curing, it provides an atmosphere where healing can happen.  The greatest healing of all is the reconciliation of a human being with God.  When this happens, physical healing often occurs, mental and emotional balance is restored, spiritual health is enhanced, and relationships are healed.  For the Christian the basic purpose of spiritual healing is to renew and strengthen one’s relationship with the living Christ." It was great to see so many here for our new "Fill Your Cup" Coffee House Worship at 6:30PM.  The energy and excitement filled the room.  We have lots of work yet to be done and tweaking and honing will take time, but God is always faithful.  If we are faithful to the movement of the Holy Spirit in this place new life will spring forth from LifeSpring.  LifeSpring is praying for those that this service will meet a need for time and service style.  We have much more in store for those that attend this service as well as our early service, so on your way in grab that cup of coffee and fill it up to the brim.

This afternoon I heard about a single mother who had only $29.18 in her checking account who had just received a small reimbursement check that grew her checking account balance to $49.  She gave half of it to a Christian radio station fund raising campaign.  She then only had $25.00 left to buy food for her family or gas for her car.

At first when I heard this my thoughts were of outrage.  "How dare this radio station take this woman's money, she has children to feed?"  I tossed it around in my head for awhile and then I remembered the story of the widows mite - Mark 12:41-44.  It would have been an insult to this woman not to receive what she had offered.

We give out of our abundance.  Have we ever thought about giving out of our poverty.  Ouch that hurts.  God gives us everything to use, to enjoy and in this country even the poor are rich compared to those impoverished in our world.  This is not a campaign to promote a radio station ministry, its a thought about what we give of our resources, those things God has given to us to enjoy, to further the kingdom of God on earth.  I will still remember the man in a prior congregation who would always say "to whom much is given, much is expected."  As well as throughout his life, when he passed away he made good on that expectation.  God calls us to be cheerful givers are you filled with cheer?

A time of reflection and preparation.  It's exciting to see God creating something new.

In Revelations 21: 5-7 we read  He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."  He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this.  NIV

What are you expecting, how are you anticipating what God is doing at LifeSpring?  I envision God bringing new people of all ages from all walks of life, that we are truly a spring of living water.

The season of Lent has perplexed me this year.  While we live in changing times, the traditions have changed through the years, and many no longer celebrate the disciplined life, it is a reminder of our need for relationship with God.  On Wednesday night this past week we celebrated Ash Wednesday.  Using an alternative worship model the worship center was filled with ambient light and several prayer stations.  Those that participated in this time, found it to be meaningful and several have commented how they felt the presence of the Holy Spirit.

It was definitely a focus away from the world in order to focus on our priorities during this time.    Everett and I have each given up something and taken more than one thing on for our journey through Lent. Our desire is to be in an attitude of prayer as we continue to vision for launching  the new worship format at LifeSpring later in April.  We felt that was a good starting point for our journey ahead.  One of the disciplines has been to spend time together reading and discussing the same reading.  To say the least we are finding new meanings to old ways as we look forward to developing worship in new ways.  God is never changing, but we as a people are always changing.  Please pray along with us, as we journey together into the future and let's just see what God has in store for us as a body of Christ?
